Hey Guys, I was speaking to Chris about this, but I would like to get any pictures, details or plans, anything about field kitchens as I can. If you have anything to share, let me know.

I have looked for information myself, but this is the only pic i have found, I can send a higher resolution if you want, but not sure if it would help: Randall

Sean...
I cannot for the like of me work out how to post a pic on the forum, so I'm forwarding an email with several views I have of the German field kitchen.
One set is of an original in a museum I visited a few years ago...
Enjoy!

One of these things was actually on German Ebay a few years ago. Good price, but the shipping...
The model company Tamiya came out with a 1/35th scale model of it. The WW2 version is indistinguishable from the WW1 version (as far as I know). The German army simply kept using it decade after decade.
I'll try to find more photos of it in my source books. Phillip Dye AKA Wolfgang Zimmermann

I believe that at one time the 352nd Infantry (a German WWII reenacting unit) was restoring one of these. I don't know if they ever finished.

Ah, the "goulash kanone" as it was known in Austria-Hungary. I'll check my references and try to get some scans.

I'm going to the Phoenix Club this Friday to fortify myself for the dig-day weekend... They have a field kitchen on their grounds - I'll check it out and take some pictures. I'm sure it's a later version (has pnuematic tires) but the body might be accurate for our purposes.

Thanks for all the responces on this topic. I would very much like to build one if it at all possible. Seph, thanks for the pics. Is there anyway to get a bigger copy of them? They are great, just kind of hard to see details cause of the size. I would like to find some way to make it in the proper details, just to modernize the componits a little bit to make it easy to use. Has anyone seen one for sale for awhile? keep the photos coming or any other details we might have.

You might want to talk to the 352nd- when I saw it in 2002, it wasn't too far along in restoration and I have a feeling that it wasn't a priority item. They may be willing to sell.
I have a feeling that this is going to be a pretty costly item no matter what.

I'm sure we could probably scrounge one up "over there" but the shipping is going to be a killer.
