Gents, I have to admit that I was confused when I saw the price on Schipper's website for the Service Dress. I spoke to him tonight about it. We have been friends for many years. The figure was geared toward a uniform package, not just one jacket. He is going to offer two uniform packages
1. SD Tunic, Trousers, Shirt, Puttees, and Trench cap for around $450 2. SD Tunic, Trousers, Shirt, and Puttees, for around $400 **There may be a price variation for larger sizes.**
I think you will see that his pricing will be in line with his other uniform packages that he offers.
He was on vacation while we were discussing this and he is still working on the packaging price but those are going to be close. If there is any mistakes in the pricing than those are my errors.
He is also going to be having a sale on his P '08 web gear sets so keep an eye out on that. I couldn't get a price nailed down but he gave me the O.K to mention it.
I hope that this helps alleviate the confusion.
Cheers Chris Smead

I presume that the Shipperfabrik price of $425.00 is for a uniform jacket and trousers set? In my view, the price is detrimental to what the company is trying to achieve = supply decent quality, period authentic British WW1 uniforms.
What-Price-Glory have their faults, but their British 1902 pattern is quite acceptable on the quality and authenticity side. Also, for a price tag of $265.00, it's not hard to see where reenactors will be getting theirs from!
I'll wait to reserve judgement, and see what the final price, quality, and authenticity is like.... for a jacket and trouser set!

RSM, I don't think you read my earlier posting closely.
1. SD Tunic, Trousers, Shirt, Puttees, and Trench cap for around $450 2. SD Tunic, Trousers, Shirt, and Puttees, for around $400 **There may be a price variation for larger sizes.**
You will be getting more than just a jacket and trousers.
I currently own a WPG set (purchased in 1996) and am eager to upgrade.
Give the man a chance. He is doing this business while serving on active military service.

Chris, the Schipperfabrik site doesn't say what is on offer, so we can only take for granted as the norm that it is a Jacket and Trousers. As I already mentioned.. I'll reserve judgement until we see just whats what...quality, price, items included in the offer.

Seph, His $425 mark has always been for more than just a jacket and trousers. Look at his German, French, and US package prices. That is why I knew something didn't make sense and I talked to him about it. I talk to Schipper frequently. He wanted me to get the word out about what was coming up with the SD because he is in the process of redoing the website. He is also going in for ankle surgery tomorrow and will be at home recovering for a bit. Won't know till after the surgery how well he will be able to get about.

Well, as a price comparison, here is how What Price Glory stacks up.
$265 Tunic and Trouser's $65 Shirt $45 Trench Cap $16 Puttee's
$391 total
Seph has already established that Schipper's trench cap is incorrect. By the same token, the chinstrap on the WPG item is crap, too. WPG make's no distinction between large, or small sizes (he will not charge you extra for being of a manly size). Not much of a price differance, unless you are a size 46 or above. Then there is a $50+ differance. Sorry, the RMLI will stay with WPG. Besides, Jerry Lee's no. 2 man is in our unit. Also, WPG will also be marketing "H" and "P-H" helmet's soon. Prototypes have already been made.

Chris, I don't mean to sound harsh, but whoevers surgery is not the issue.. it's the British 1902 -SD Uniform Jacket and Trousers.
No judgement is being made until we see whats on offer, its authentic appearance, quality and price comparison.
