I've got a Schipper can for my gummimaske, but no straps. Anyone know a source for straps or have suggestions for acceptable ersatz?
Thanks,
Larry

Great War Militaria used to make the appropriate strap. I'm surprised that this isn't included with the mask and cannister. Since is this for the Gummimaske, I'll move this to the appropriate area.

Unfortunetly, Schipper went with making the gas mask bag instead of the can first. Last I checked, they were going to make straps, but I haven't seen anything yet=/

Larry,
I have a spare set of GWM straps that I have not installed on my repro can yet. If you need them let me know - you can order me another set later. I can bring them to Ozena.

Thanks Chris--I just ordered a set from GWM. They should arrive in time for Ozena, but I'll let you know if they don't.

Prompt please, whether there is in the filter the Gummimaske directly filter??? Whether it is possible to use the Gummimaske to breathe to a smoke?? A manufacture the Gummimaske by Schipper.

The Schipper gummimaske "filter" only has a bit of screen in it, no actual filtering capability.

I and assumed that this "filter" is an empty box. It is a pity. Thanks!

Larry pretty much hit it there. You really don't want a functional reproduction filter with all the attendant problems of maintenance with shelf life and the like. Also, from a liability standpoint, there's a huge risk marketing something that COULD be used to in some capacity. Finally, there's some serious government standards that would have to be met, something I seriously doubt that Schipper (or almost any small company) could comply with due to costs.

I agree with you. But then probably Shipper could specify that as that inside is not present the filter. And all. And so, it can be seen only on the presented photos on a site if to look narrowly.

Adam is right. Having a real filter would've caused a major fit with the US Government especially these days. It cut the costs down as well. By buying a reproduction I wouldn't have any expectations about whether or not the filter was there.
Also, Schipper did make the cans before the bag. His first mask project was the leather mask and it came with a can.
I have used a breadbag strap to carry the can. I has worked quite well.
