Here is a picture of the white version (for a Feldwebel): There is a company in Germany called "Der bunte Rock" that makes them. They make some beautiful uniforms, including the blue Waffenrock! Check them out: www.derbunterock.deI have never ordered from them, but I heard they are expensive and it looks like they don't speak English.

Thanks Brandon, good find.
If that is an accurate representation of the drill uniform, I think a decent conversion of the WW2 version can be done. I don't feel too bad fudging something a little bit if there is no repro on the market. Chances are they want an arm and a leg for this and my intent is to actually work in these. Therefore, dropping a bunch of cash on a work uniform just doesn't compute for me. I will be experimenting with the conversion down the road. Would still like to see some original photos first though.

We should be able to get these made. James Minnich has a set of fatigues that we should be able to make a pattern from. Maybe we could get Alvaro Lopez's mom to make these for us? These are not M1907/10 feldrocks! I'll ask Alvaro and James.
Regarding color I remember reading somewhere that wartime versions were made of the same material as zelts, so a light grey canvas.
I dealt with Matt Williamson a couple of years ago - he does excellent work and is a really nice guy, but can be slow and is not cheap. For fatigue uniforms I would suggest we go cheap or no one is going to want to actually work in them!!

Fritz has a coat that's sort of a light grey color- I don't think it's due to aging.

Bravo MARCUS... I approached Wolf about this issue last Spring and got a shrugged shoulders saying who cares? To me.. any trip to the trenches should be in period military or civilian clothing.. I wore period era civvies in the farb camp as well as when I was filling sandbags..
One thing for sure.. you can wear the pants at least with a period shirt or civilian shirt...

WALT.. and I definitely plan to attend!

Mein Herren, I talked with Paul Schipper tonight after reading about the interest in the drill uniforms. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the time to monitor all the various reenacting forums and websites so I try to help when I can. We have been friends for many years.
He is going to be making more of the drill uniforms, both NCO and Soldaten pattern and in a couple color variations. The price is going to be around the $225 mark for the set (tunic and trousers), more for larger sizes, most likely. If the price is wrong then that is my error.
Please feel free to email your interest to him. Obviously, his goal is to fill the void, so if he knows what people want, he can focus on those projects.

I queried G-Max tailoring on this issue. He can do them, but they will not be cheap. He quoted me about $190 before shipping for the tunic alone and that was going off my sizes. The bigger you are, the more it will cost. So there is a source out there, but you will be paying for it.

Trousers are Ok as the pattern is very similar. A tunic can be purchased but it has to be extensively modified. (ie: shortened, pockets removed, stand collar etc.) I believe Marcus wrote a how to article on this. Dan

Walt, Are you on the Central Powers Yahoo list? Its in the documents section there. If not, let me know and I can email you the tutorial. It's not really that hard if you know anyone that can sew or go to a seamstress/tailor/alterations person.

Lately, Hessen seems to have really picked up steam in the Imperial German department----a lot of new items over a rather short period of time! I bet it won't be too long before they start offering fatigues.

Lately, Hessen seems to have really picked up steam in the Imperial German department----a lot of new items over a rather short period of time! I bet it won't be too long before they start offering fatigues. In the description of many of Hessen's new items, it states "made in the U.S.A." These U.S.A. made goods look a lot like some of Steve Fisher's items. I wonder if Hessen now has an agreement with Steve Fisher?
