Thanks for the heads up Mike. However, I can see just by a quick scan.. its the incorrect material, so not period correct for the British Tommy of WW1.
All three of the British WW1 headdress = SD, Trench and Gor-Blimy caps, were manufactured from the same heavy Khaki Serge material as the uniform. The Schipperfabrik item is manufactured from a lighter material which is similar to the WW2 serge material used for Officers uniforms. Also, the chinstrap is a mess..... just look at those securing rivetts! Another missing feature.. the air gromets in the lower central portion of the cap overhang! Look at those side buttons... OMG. This firms reputation will take a dive faster than a dead Jap Zero if they continue with this item!!
I would strongly advice that this item is not purchased... unless one wishes to portray a WW2 British and Commonwealth Army officer!

Phil,
Your best bet is to purchase a WPG -Trench Cap, and a replacement chinstrap from 'Dickie Knights' : Khaki on Campaign. He's based in England, and his chinstraps are spot-on, and cost '6' Pounds Sterling each + postage.

Thats good news Mike.
If you haven't already done so, you'll require a replacement chinstrap, as the WPG item is far to thin and constructed incorrectly. I've placed an order for several replacements from Dickie Knight, and awaiting them at this moment.

Yes I do. Here's the website address: www.milweb.net/dealers/trader/khakioncampaign/index.htmThe email address is on the website at the bottom of the page... just click on 'EMAIL'. I've requested a full listing of Dickies line of product's with my order, so I'll pass it on when it arrives. The business telephone number is on the website also, just above 'EMAIL'. If you need to telephone that number, you must remember that the USA is '8' hours behind the UK. Also.. leave off the first '0' from the number, and add the international dialing code = 01144. I've dealt with Dickie before, and found him very pleasant, professional, and his products are second to none. He makes copies of his collection items for museums etc. If you let him know that you received the info from a repeat customer.. ie; me! That makes him happier than a Squirrel with a bag of nuts!
