It's being released directly to DVD in the US; no theatrical release apparently. Now if they will release 'the Red Baron'... New versions of 'All Quiet on the Western Front' and "Mata Hari' are also in production.

Can't comment on the rest of the movie but this scene looked pretty decent except for the last bit- that was a little too contrived. Otherwise, pretty realistic in my book.

Yeah that was pretty intense. I checked on Amazon and they have a couple of copies for sale I think. They want $30.00 bucks a pop though.

New versions of 'All Quiet on the Western Front' . wait wait hold up a min. They are making a new All Quiet on the Western Front?!?!?! I loved the book and both the movies. (I have the 1979 version) If they are making a new one I MUST SEE IT!

I was struck by the lack of use of grenades, particularly by the Germans during their assault (compare with any battle scene in "Stosstrupp 1917."

I've heard they are remaking AQotWF, but those that have seen/heard more than I have are not impressed. Sounds like the director "knows better" and is changing it drastically from the book. To me the 1930 version is so great because it is just about as good as the book. How many movies can you say that about?
For my money, judging from the tripe that's come out lately (Joyeau Noel, Flyboys, etc.) I'll pass on the remake. I'll take Stosstrupp 1917, AQotWF (1930), The Big Parade and le Croix de Bois over anything made lately!!

Ahoy!
I agree that scene is pretty good. As it is I brought AQ o WF (1930) with me today to hopefully watch while here at the station.
Now what we need to do is convince the directors that "we" know more about the technical aspects of these types of movies and let "us" be the tech consultants. Then there would be a GREAT movie, unlike the garbage that is coming out of "Hollywierd" these days.
My 2 cents worth.

Wow, I wonder how many more scenes like that there are. That was pretty intense. As far as technical advice, take a lesson from Joseph Wambaugh. If you want a technically accurate movie don't let Hollywood get involved.
