Ahoy!
Mods- please feel free to move to a more appropriate location if needed-
Would anyone have knowledge of any links or sites on line where one might be able to view examples of French Road Signs used during the Great War? I have exhausted Google and no results. The only examples that come up are modern signs.
I wanted to make a few to have in camp for static displays along with the usual ones- "H.Q" "YMCA CANTEEN" etc.
Thanks very much in advance!
Chuck

Curious as to how much they would have changed between the Wars? If not a big change you can probably find tons of pics of signs from WW2 era. Usually, white with black lettering and borders, no?

Ahoy!
Marcus you are correct on the WW2 signs being white with a point on one end and a what looks like a 1/2 black border with Black letters in CAPITOL letters then the distance lettering half the size of the City's name. Guess I could go with that and seeing how the number of WW1 vets that might show up is pretty slim I might be able to go with that.
Thanks Chuck

From what pictures I've seen, signs tended to be pretty crude, ad hoc affairs. A lot of them seemed to be painted on pieces of wooden crates.

Ahoy!
That is what I was leaning to-wards- a very simple road sign, however would distance be in Kilometers or miles?
