Gentlemen,
One of my Lugers is stamped IR 307. Does anybody know the history of this regiment? Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Typically, IR307= 307th Infantry Regiment. This may be WWII vintage because there was no 307th Infantry Regiment formed during WWI (or at least according to what references I have). Also, marking weapons with the unit was a prewar practice that was dropped during the war and even if there had been a 307th Infantry Regiment, it would have been formed during the war and thus the weapon would have been unmarked.
The WWII angle is interesting but I don't know enough to be of any help.
