April 16 is IR 61's Regimentsgedenkstag, celebrating the capture of French Imperial Eagle standards (each one touched by the emperor's hand) at the Battle of Sacile in 1809. The regiment, known at the time as the Banater Grenadiers, earned the Lorbeerkranz (laurel wreath, placed at the top of the regimental standard) and the right to celebrate their victory every year.
