Model 1915 Feldbluse Question

Does anyone know if the buttons on the side pockets of Model 1915 Feldblusen were ever left off intentionally? I recall seeing one Feldbluse where the buttons were left off of the pocket flaps, and there were no button holes (so the buttons didn't just fall off!). Is this a known variation? Was this manufacturer, depot, or tailor dependent?

I've never seen it (not to say that it didn't happen). The Hong Kong crowd are leaving them off their reproductions but I attribute this to sloppy research more than anything else.
