Hi all......question.....did the common infantry enlisted in the Kuk use the portapee on his bayonet or was that just for NCO's, thanks Mike

Hi Mike,
Theoretically, enlisted men wore the portepee on their bayonet frogs (according to the Ajusterung Vorschrift of 1911), but this doesn't seem to have been done in practice. Only NCO's were allowed to wear the portepee on their bayonets. They were worn in the field during the early war, but as the war went on, wearing the portepee was pretty much only for parade/walking our dress (officers continued to wear theirs in the field).
