I have no clue what to do for a SBR. Does anyone recommend any? I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for a mint reproduction to breath out of (Death) ;D.
Is there any alternative? Are there instructions out there to reproduce these?
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The short answer is not really. Most originals are pretty fragile and not suitable without extensive reconditioning to include replacing the filter- many of these still have traces of mustard gas and the like that can really mess you up. You may be able to put one together from parts but it's more trouble and time than it's worth.
Also, they look like exactly what they are: 90 plus year old items rather than recent issue that they would have had. Best thing is to start saving up. :-)

Gas attacks are the highlight of most events, ten minutes in a sweaty fogged up mask can transport you 90 years in time.

You can get a reproduction French M2 gas mask for $80, but you're better off saving up and getting the SBR.

O.o well this is disconcerting....lol. I'm a stubborn person, So before I drop some serious $$$ on a worthwhile piece of equipment, I want to try and see if I can replicate it.
Perhaps if it works out, I can post a how to on it?
Thanks for the help everyone.

I just bought a used Schipperfabrik SBR on eBay. It looks like it has been knocked around a bit but for what it cost I'm willing to put a little work into it.
