Famed silent movie comedian Buster Keaton interrupted his climb to success in Hollywood to serve in the army in France. He used some of his experiences in his 1930 movie 'Doughboys.' www.worldwar1.com/dbc/buster.htmPhillip Dye

Bela Lugosi served in the Austro-Hungarian army in WWI. He was in the infantry, at one point leading ski troops on the Russian front. Wounded three times, he was invalided out in 1916.

Herbert Marshall, Basil Rathbone, Ronald Colman and Claude Rains served together in London Scottish Regiment during the war. Marshall was wounded and lost a leg, but after the war, he continued his stage and screen career without a noticeable limp; in fact, he covered his disability so well, he was criticized by some British during WW2 for not joining up again.

Phillip Dye I think you'll find that Basil Rathbone served in the Liverpool Scottish - part of the King's Regiment, not the London Scottish (part of theLondon Regiment) Tom
