Just finished "The Brusilov Offensive" by Timoth C. Dowling. It's a pretty decent account and makes the important points that combined with earlier disasters of 1914 and 1915, Austro-Hungary was pretty much finished as an independent military power and that the offensive nearly took Austro-Hungary out of the war completely.
Brusilov was also an interesting man- too bad the Russians didn't have more of him but in reading the book, it's clear that the Russians were programmed for ultimate failure, the question was whether they or the Austro-Hungarians would fall first. The Germans really saved the situation.
Only problems are a lack of maps to illustrate the movements and some of the unit designations are off. Definitely worth a read.
