Were the A-H troops sent to the western front rearmed with German weapons GEW 98s to simplify ammo supply or did they keep their M95s?

They kept their M95s. Some of the field artillery units were supplied with German guns, and the 1st ID and 35th ID were both issued 200 Lewis guns in 7.9 x 57, but otherwise they used standard AH weapons and equipment.
