I recently had a stahlhelm shell completlely reconditioned by Jacob Caputo/Alexander & Sons and I must say, the work is EXCELLENT! I wanted a simple "just issued, straight from the factory" look and he performed wonders. He installed the 1917 pattern head harness which is leather and padding on a metal frame. Here's some pictures: I highly recommend him (and no, I do not get any promotional consideration! :-)). His website is located at: www.alexanderandsonsrestorations.com/

I have purchased SEVERAL helmets from Jacob. Each and every one has been outstanding. His restorations are historically correct and perfect in every way. I had the opportunity to see, and handle, two original "untouched" German M16 helmets that are part of a collection housed in the history library at the Army Medical Department Center and School, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. Those helmets are complete, have been sitting in that collection for years, and are well preserved. They are about as "mint" as you can hope to find these days. Jacob's restorations are absolutely spot on. I really examined those original helmets closely, and I can attest that Jacob's paint color, liners, liner pins, and chinstraps are identical to the originals in every way----right down to the minutest detail. His work is amazing! I also do not get any promotional consideration!
