Our first event at King's Crossing presented the attendees with a challenging tactical situation--a very broad, flat NML, with plenty of daylight and no cover. Conditions did not allow for the use of smoke or any pyrotechnics.
The Entente forces made use of some very innovative tactics, executed with with élan and style, but were no avail against the MGs of the Central Powers. Likewise, die Mittelmächte could make no progress against the disciplined fire of the Allies.
Most importantly, there was a very important meeting with all present to discuss the future of the GWHS, but I will leave that to another thread.
Kudos to La Légion Russe--they had the best turnout, an outstanding period campsite and it was quite evident that they have all been working very hard on their impressions. As we have come to expect, they showed their enthusiasm and tenacity on the battlefield. Молодцы, товарищи!
Hats off to Patrick Hernandez, who made the long haul from Albuquerque. We also welcomed Taisho Ohara to his fist GWHS event, and the revivified 2nd Chevauleger.
Adam Lid was presented with the Criox de Guerre for his service as Allied Commander (which he incongruously accepted in his Bavarian uniform). Adam Matthews received the Karl Truppen-Kreuz in recognition of services rendered to his Imperial and Royal Apostolic Majesty and K.u.K. IR 61. Lisa Matthews was likewise awarded the Esernes Verdienstkreuz am zivilband.

It was an honor to be assigned to the right flank of IR61! It was nice to get out with the WWI gear again and especially as a Chevauleger. The Allied forces were definnitely on their game and especially the Russians- a real class act. While their new mortar rained death upon the Bavarian positions, we were spared with the rounds either going too short or too long. I'm confident that given time, it will improve. The Russian infantry attack was especially awe-inspiring and in the face of such numbers and malfunctioning Bavarian rifles, the 2nd Chevauleger wisely opted to fall back. All in all, a good time! :-)
