BEF, CEF, and German reenactors should take a look at Soldier of Fortune UK when looking to purchase new kit. a reenactor with the GWA and many members of the Guards unit there have just been blown away by the quality of their items and, most importantly, by the stellar customer service. They said items are sent from the UK in a matter of days! Staff is very prompt and resposive. While you have to pay the bit extra to convert from the dollar to the pound, you can often match many of the prices out there from domestic vendors. Just wanted to pass this along for those who did know about these folks. www.sofmilitary.co.uk/reenactors/index.aspYou might also ask Seph about his opinions on the British stuff as well, he is there and might be able to check them out in person Patrick

Looking at the P'14 gear..the pattern looks good but the leather doesn't have the rolled grain finish like the original pieces and repro set I have. A set would cost $435 and shipping on top of it. I think the pound conversion and shipping is going to be a factor on anything you purchase from them.

I have heard of this vendor previously, but never got the chance to actually order / handle their products. From what I have heard, their goods are historically accurate. From viewing their site, it does look as though they have an edge over two very well known vendors.. who shall remain nameless for certain reasons.
I also have had an update recently from a reenactor... i'll not mention him for the time being... who has received a couple of items from 'Soldier-of-Fortune'. For the most part his evaluation is good. There are a couple of small points against, but i'm looking into those points raised with a view to historical accuracy.
The vendors postal address is only a short train ride from where i'm living at the moment, so I should be able to make a trip to see them on-the-ground.
I'll give a fuller report in due course. But in all events, bare in mind the postage costs from the UK to the USA. It may be an advantage for a bulk order... several chaps putting together... to save on postage.

I had the impression that much (if not all) of SoF's British gear was from WPG. If this is the case surely WPG would be a cheaper option for you guys?

Re: that most if not all of SoF UK is from WPG
Bought from both (SoF UK & WPG) - too much is different & both offer items (i.e. SoF UK sells SBRs & gray-back shirts) - WPG does not.
Both sell mess tins - SoF UK more a pre-war / early war type
etc. etc. etc.
