Caporal Jules-André Peugeot who born in Étupes on June 11th, 1893 was part of 6ème Compagnie du 2ème Bataillon de 44ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne (Lons-le-Saunier) (6th Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 44th Infantry Regiment of the Line) was the first French Poliu to be killed during the war at 1007 hours on August 2, 1914 near Joncherey, in the Belfort Territory.

Soldat de Première Classe Augustin-Joseph Victorin Trébuchon who was born in Montchabrier on May 30, 1878 was part of 9ème Compagnie du 415ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne (Marseille) (9th Company of the 415th Infantry Regiment of the Line) was the last French Poliu to be killed during the war at 1045 hours on November 11, 1918 near Vrigne-Meuse in the Ardennes.
