A Very Basic Pickelhaube Question

I have a rather basic question regarding the model 1895 pickelhaube with brass fittings. Did these have removable spikes? I've seen reproductions of these with removable spikes. However, it was my understanding that removable spikes were not introduced until the start of production of the model 1915 pickelhaube with gray steel fittings. Any information is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Nick,
For the standard enlisted M95 pickelhaube, the spike should not be removable. Most of the repro spiked helmets out there with the removable spike are 100% wrong and copied off an officer's pattern not enlisted. PLus if you look at those, the shape of the spike is all wrong as well.
