These are new helmets from Prairie Flower Leather Co. Steel stamped, made in the US with pflco liners in them. Cost is a little less than it takes to restore an original helmet and you don't have to worry about messing up the one in your collection. Worth a look... Attachments:

Thank you for posting the pictures, and the info.
First impressions = Favourable!
If anyone has bought one of these, could they give a product evaluation please? Depending upon which way one wants to progress on a refurbishment of an period original... it can, as has been mentioned, be rather costly. Having an alternative reproduction sourse, of good quality, not lacking in authinticity, is quite a bonus.
Gentlemen, I see in this, if product reports are favourable, a purchase reommendation, as a viable alternative to the period original.

Please keep in mind that looks are not the only thing to consider when looking at repro helmets. Given the nature of what we do in the trenches and NML, these need to be significantly strong enough to withstand a blow from trench clubs and mortars. Maybe a view people could ban together to purchase one and basically beat on it to see how it stands up.
Just a thought!

I saw one of these Repros two weeks ago and it is FIRST RATE. Party because it is made in the USA and NOT China. I have several original US and Brit helmets and it is a spot on repro (unlike the repro German ones out there). I would not hesitate to buy one as the gauge and thickness is the same as original ones in my collection. The only thing that distinguishes it as a repro is the lack of stock/mill manufacture numbers. I'd buy one if I didn't already have a refurbed original for reenacting. ;D Dan

Everything I've ever personaly handled from Prairie Flower Leather Co. has been of top shelf quality and, from the looks of it these helmets are too.
Wonder if there are plans to reproduce any German helmets? Or,even harder to find Kochgeschirr?

Marcus... you need not have any concerns about safety issues, especially when I personally trial or evaluate any peace of equipment or clothing. Its not purely the esthetics of the item that are being scrutinised, but the overall period authenticity... including safety!
I can guarentee (as you know), that if the item is not good enough / lacking... in any area... it wil not get any form of approval.
You comment was quite valid, and appreciated.
Gentlemen, its not purely the favourable comments that I would like to hear in connection to this item. Its also any concerns that may be apparent to those of you whio have either purchased, considering purchasing, or have used / loaned an example. A balanced appraisal is what is aimed at, in order to give a fair comment for either recommendation or dismisal.
Dan, Thats just the sort of feedback I'm seeking. First rate, thank you!

Regarding the Prairie Flower repros...they start with original WWI or WWII shells and install the new liners, so they are as good as the originals (for safety purposes).

Maybe at one time they started with original WW1 or WW2 helmets - but not any more: Per the website: These are 100% Reproduction steel helmets made in the USA in Ord Nebraska!

Has anyone actually handled one of the repros from Prairie Flower? I'm a bit leary considering the high volume "made in China" garbage floating around out there.
I think it's still more cost effective to refurbish an original the prices for shells is still reasonable.

Yes - bought 1 of the 2nd pattern brodies - i.e. the first pattern with a rolled brim. Very good quality - all dimensions within know ranges of originals. Weight, if anything a bit more than an original. If I recall - with a calipers the thickness of the rolled brim (so 3 thickness) was about .02 inches more than the thickness of two originals I compared against.
