I want to remind everyone on that wants to do a French with the GWHS 151 RIL, we are a complete SEPERATE unit from the GWA 151 RIL and their uniform regulations are NOT the same as the GWHS 151 RIL, I have set forth our regulations on this post on our GWHS Forum ... please take time to read them .... greatwarforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=frenchresearch&action=display&thread=815&page=1 The GWHS 151 does not have any control over the GWHS 151 RIL and vice-versa and what they say can be used at an event might not be acceptable for the GWHS unit, always ASK me before it can be used at our events. The GWA 151 RIL has alot of members who do the 1915 and 1916 period poilu stuff and in 1918 some of this stuff was long gone and was not in usage. Thanks Patrick

Sean W can you please transfer these regulations to the main GWHS website for me to stop the confusion on the different regulations from the two French units. Thanks Patrick

Patrick, You may want to alter the website you have here: www.reenactor.net/units/151ri/index.htmThe first paragraph on the homesite can be a little confusing. It does state there are two units, but it says you are all members of the GWA. "The 151 RI along with our sister unit the 8BCP, comprise the French reenacting community and are all members of the Great War Association (the GWA)..." With all the event photos being from Newville, I can see how this creates confusion.

I need to have that website removed from the GWHS Main website, it no longer can be updated due to bieng an older program type website and the person who has control of it can not change it anymore I wil have to build a new website for the GWHS 151 RIL eventually. This other one was made for me when I was with the GWA 151 RIL, have not been there since 2002. I will ask Sean to remove it from the main website to avoid confusion. Patrick

This follows my introduction to Patrick and stating my interest in developing a French impression for the 151 RI. I was not confused about the two units, I fully understand that they are two separate groups with two separate commands. I know John Bracken and James Thomas in the 151 back east, they are acquaintances of mine and we exchange information on a variety of impressions that we all share a mutual interest in. While I may be new to the WWI hobby I'm not new to reenacting. Historical accuracy has always been of the highest priority for me, it's a huge part of what I do for a living. I know the difference between a 1914, 1916 and 1918 Poilu impression. Most in the 151 back east focus entirely on 1918 anyways. In any case, I look forward to coming out this next year.

Ian, This was not directed at you at all, I had been getting a few emails from potential members that want to do French and they seem to get the two different units mixed up. I just wanted to clarify the difference between the two units, we have alot in common but are SEPERATE units all together. I know the guys back east and they do a fantastic job in thier impressions as we do here in the GWHS, we could actually go to each other reenactment venues and fit in perfectly but we here in CA do have more restrictions epecially with full-automatic weapons which they in PA do not have, they can be freely (within BATFE regulations of Class III weaponry laws) brought in from other states to use but in CA this is not allowed and that person if caught can be jailed or fined or both along with a felony conviction which that person could lose all rights to own any type of weapons, I for one do not want this to happen to anyone. I also believe that we are to be rifleman first, build our numbers in the field and then worry about having a MG in our ranks, Yes I had the 'SKS' Chauchat at the last reenactment and used it but we needed it for firepower due to numbers of Allied members we had there, this could change at the next Battle Event though if the numbers do not work.
Historical accuracy has always been of the highest priority for me as well, ask anyone of this forum who knows me, they think I LIVE this impression in my daily life LOL

Getting inquiries from people who want to go French? This is a good thing! :-) Horizon blue is a nice soothing color..........to shoot at. We need more of it. It's therapeutic for Soldaten at the front.

As a point on 'Historical Accuracy'... I do hope that anyone wishing to portray British and Commonwealth... will, before making a costly purchase, please drop me a line.
I'm always open to questions and enquiries on the period use / accuracy, of any item of equipment / weapon / uniform item / personal item / for their chosen unit // portrayal. Rather the chaps ask the question / questions first.. before they find out to their cost in $$'s.
Also, I do hope that you chaps will point any interested party my way!?
I can be contacted openly through this forum in three ways... 1) By open chat through the public view sections. 2) By PM through the public sections. 3) By PM or open chat through the Members section.
...or...
By email = 1) sephtonandmary@yahoo.com 2) sgt-maj@sbcglobal.net
...or...
if a more detailed answer is required, by snail mail address.. which will be supplied upon request by PM.
