I have a feeling that this movie will only resemble "All Quiet on the Western Front" in name only. In a few newspaper articles, I read that the writers plan to take quite a few liberties, intending to make the story "more relevant for modern viewers". Additionally, there will be a few characters that were never in the novel. For example, an actor has been cast to play "General Reinhardt". The screenplay is not going to follow Remarque's work.
Unfortunately, this remake will probably be the only version today's kids will become familiar with (most kids probably won't bother to read the book or watch the original film!). It's a shame that this great classic will be ruined.

And no doubt they'll throw in some love interest so as to get the females into the theater. Another train wreck in the making...
