Another subject that can be argued over for hours, is web gear. The set that I eventually bought came from "What Price Glory". I am reasonably happy with it. My main problem was with fitting the tabs through the buckles. I either had to hammer them a little bit flatter, file down the edges, or both!
I also have a belt, a mess kit carrier, and a cup discharger carrier from Lawrence Ordnance. The tip of the belt was not well set, and promptly tore halfway off. And both carriers have lost 1 snap each after minimal usage. I'm not happy and would consider returning them, if not for the cost of postage!
I have no experience with the Schipper web gear. But I have read on the International Great War forum that the pouches on the ammo carriers will not close over the 3 chargers that they are supposed to hold.
At the moment, prices for all three makers are relatively the same. Even after factoring in the cost of shipping from Aussie Land.
Let the flak begin!

The 3 chargers will fit in the Schipper gear, with a lot of pushing, stretching, pulling and swearing! Same goes for fitting the water bottle, bayonet scabbard and entrenching tool shaft (oh yeah, and the stitching will probably come undone on the scabbard/entrenching tool bit). With the water bottle, instead of getting it out the webbing holder to fill it/drink from it, I just unclip the webbing bit from it.
I'm very happy with the quality of Military History Workshop webbing, has a much better 'feel' to it than Schipper stuff

It isn't the same gear as WPG. Webbing is different - ammo pouches are different. etc. etc. etc. I'd stay away from them - stick with WPG, Khaki and green (Lawrance Ord.), Schipperfabrik, or GWM.

Thank you for the advice. Are the ones on ebay incorrrect or just "different" from the other vendors. Feedback is good but I know that can be taken with a grain of salt. I plan on getting a set to use once a year for a WW2 Aussy Impression so I'm interested in cheap but authentic. I'd love to find a used set if anyone is parting with it. Dan

Based on the pictures I'd say different - but also somewhat incorrect. For example the ammo holders. All originals I've seen have puckered pouches. These are straight. Khaki and Green still sells ammo holders with straight pockets - however both Schipperfabrik and (now) WPG have ammo pouches that are puckered. Also if you look at the third picture down (back of the ammo pouch) the wide strap does not appear to be attached - it should be - between the top and bottom pouches. Last - and this could just be a issue with the photos - it looks to me that all of the C buckels are bent at the tips. Haven't seen that on originals except after extensive field use.
