Guys.
I was just considering putting a French poilu impression together.I am considering both the 1914 piou piou look(with the red trousers etc) and the 1917-18 look. To be honest I favour the 1914 look at the minute(I am quite discouraged but the search for an adrian and my restorative skills arent the highest).Anyway I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction source/vendor wise.
I have heard that Schipperfabrik supply this uniform but that the colours are wrong.

Hi-
I'm sure there are some people here who can help answer that question. In the meantime, please intruduce yourself and put a signature to your posts. We like to know who we're talking to. Thanks! :-)
P.S. If you plan on reenacting with us, we're portraying 1918.

Schipperfabrik's French 1914 uniform lets just say stinks and is down right HORRID, patterns are off, color on trousers is too red, etc., etc.. I personally would not waste my time or money buying it at all. For doing the 1917 and 1918 French impression here is a link to where to purchase the gear I wrote up .... greatwarforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=frenchresearch&action=display&thread=815&page=1As to the helmet there is a place in France called Normandy..accessories which carries complete restored helmets, ready to wear, a little expensive but excellent for those who do not have these skills to restore one. www.normandy-accessories.com/index.phpI am working on where to get the 'correct' 1914 stuff but still need a few items to where to get the stuff. As Adam pointed out, over here in the US is that were are 1917 and 1918 based due to the AEF, which is the largest reenacting units and therfore doing early war impressions is for living history or timeline events only. Patrick, you have been of inestimable assistance to me.I really cannot begin to thank you enough. I genuinely had no idea of some of those vendors. Thank you very much

Be sure to check the post from time to time, there will be more vendors added hopefully before the end of this year, there is some 'new stuff' in the works as we speak which will change some of the recommended places to get stuff from Patrick

I TALKED TO PATRICK ABOUT JOINING THE 151. I have the basic uniform. Wade just finished my Greatcoat and headgear and is being sent to me now. I have leathers and pack, haversack and fake adrian. ( working on an original now.) And have a Label and bayonet. Where do get the rest of the gear? I hope to make the next event out west. I'm sure this is boring stuff to old hands but starting out right is harder than I thought it would be. I've done a lot of reenacting in different periods . So any advice? Thanks.
