Hello All
I have been looking at the Johan Somers book and noticed quite a few pics of guys wearing what looks to be Mountain Boots.
Would Mountain Boots be acceptable in place of Low Quarters?
Best Regards, fischer

Hi Don, I can't say they are incorrect for a line infantry impression. I have seen original pics of infantry with the mountain boots on. However, they are the exception rather than the rule. We prefer the standard ankle boot as this was the most common worn with puttees. Mountain boots in the proper pattern (mostly Post WWII swedish) are actually MUCH harder to find these days than normal ankle boots for reenacting! I've been looking for the last 5 years for a pair for my WW2 GJ impression to no avail (unless my shoe size is a 13 or 14! but alas I wear a 10) Cheers Dan IRS 23 Authenticity

Thanks for the follow up Dan...
I will stick with the Low Quarters and leave my Mountain Boots at home.
Best Regards, fischer

Dan, would I be allowed to wear my mountain boots (not swiss conversions) with IR 23?

I have a pair of the Swedish boots- they're stamped 1941 that should work. I'd be willing to part with them if interested.

I'm going to say no on the mountain boots for IR23. We try to represent the norm and not the exception plus we have no documentation of any issue or procurement to the original unit. If you wore them to your first battle with us, then OK, one time isn't an issue but just be in the market for a normal pair of boots. Dan PS the going market price for a normal sized pair of mountain boots is in the $200 range!

Size 11 (it's a pretty large size 11). I'm asking $175 which is what I paid for them. I can send pictures if interested. But I'd probably focus on betting the basic impression down first (yeah, doing myself out of a potential sale). :-)

Ok, I'll save my mountain boots for GJR and my public impressions as Wurttemberg Mtn trooper!
Adam, can you pm me photos of the boots, I might have a buyer!
