I came across this photo. Has anyone seen this type of assault pack? My guess is that this type of assault pack was used pre-WWI. www.altearmee.de/index2.htm(The photo won't upload from the URL. Interesting. Looks like he took the tornister straps and used them as the shoulder straps for the sturmgepack.

I thought this photo would stir up some discussion. I've never seen another photo with this type of assault pack. The soldier is wearing a Dunkelblau uniform, so I think the photo is pre-WWI. Besides using tornister straps in lieu of bread bag straps, he's attached the zeltbahn pole/peg bag----I've never seen this attached on "regular" assault packs.
