I noticed in the pictures from the event at Ft Mc Arthur a couple of the participants wearing the uniform of III Seebattalion. I'd like to hear from them about how they made up the jackets(I assume they are not commercially available, not nearly as in demand as Feldgrau) What I would like to make up would be earlier period, 1900/Boxer Rebellion. I believe the correct one would be without breast pockets, from looking at the German Colonial Uniforms website.

The Seebattalion tunics are from Hessian Antiques. They are sold as WW2 Luftwaffe tunics, but the color and cut are the same for seebattalion, just switch out the buttons for brass. See Somer's Imperial German Field Uniforms and Equipment, volume 3. It was decided they sometimes opted for the top pockets and sometimes they excluded them. James Minnich removed his while I maintained them. The shoulder boards were special order. I hope this helps you.

Thanks for that info, I had not heard of Hessen previously, but then I wasn't searching for WWII! That's a good price on it, too. Were the shoulder boards ordered special from them also, or another vendor?
