I'm looking for a replacement stock for a Gewehr 98, and I can't seem to locate anyone online that has them. Any ideas where I can go to get one?

There are a couple of collector chat boards out there that may be able to help- occasionally people have parts to sell. Pat Hernandez (he's on this board under 1886lebel) may be able to point you towards them.
Otherwise, you might try gunbroker.com and auctionarms. I've seen them there from time to time but you have to be patient.

Those are nice stocks BTW ... never heard of him before, thanks for the links Larry I might have to inquire on his 'Lebel' stock ;D ... I wonder if he cut the inside magazine tube, those were a PIA to do originally. Back on Topic: Original stocks can be found but can command a hefty price when encountered 'sometimes'. I will keep my eye out for ones for sale for you on the different firearm forums I belong to such as Gunboards.com and Surplusrifleforum.com. (I go by the name 1886lebel there and I am the French Firearms moderator on both) A few places to also look in addition to Ebay is Auction Arms and GunBroker.com as well as some weird stuff shows up there for sale but 'beware' prices can go very high on these two sites as people seem to have money to blow on purchasing items that you would never think would sell for 'high' prices. The Numrich ones are very nice, I have put them on several GEW 98s that I have restored for people. There are a couple of problems to be aware of though. 1. The stocks are very soft wood, you can put dents in it with your finger nail. 2. the cleaning rod hole is cut to long and has no nut at the end. I had to cut off an old cleaning rod section and glue it into the stock for a standard GEW 98 rod to come out to the right length. 3. you have to drill a hole for the screw in the stock marking disc. Other than that a reall nice bit of wood. Christian
