Great photos! Looks like an all British event though -- and wasn't drinking banned in the trenches?

Drinking.... who was drinking? Sgt-Maj, take that mans number!... OOOOOPPSS! Silly Sausage.. Sgt-Maj.. thats me! Erm.. SRD!... Service Rum Diluted!.. Seldom Reaches Destination!Seriously chaps! The SRD jars are famously connected to the British Army of WW1. These carried all manner of liquids to the trenches, but the most famous content was 'Rum'. The chaps were given a regular portion of 'Dutch Courage' before going 'Over The Top'. I contacted a reenactor friend in England and aquired several of the SRD jars ( all original WW1 period) for our 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers impression. They were part of the daily rations, and give the British trenches that touch of 'Realism'. You can see the carrying crate with another SRD jar on the trench floor between myself and Sgt-Smith. The crate... which holds two one-gallon SRD jars... was made following original design dimentions and markings. The pictures of Sgt Smith ( RMLI) and myself sampling the SRD 'Rum' content, was only playing... there wasn't and real Rum! Seph

Likewise, great photos! Did anybody ever get a photo when I was a POW, captured and bloody roughed by the British? I should like to see it!
