The last in a long line of Gasser revolvers, the Model 1898 was adopted by the Austro-Hungarian Army in (you guessed it) 1898, and was produced at the Gasser factory in Vienna through the end of the war. Well made and over-engineered, many were used through WWII. It's an 8-shot, solid frame, gate-loading revolver, firing an 8x27mm proprietary round (ballistics are similar to a .32 S&W long). It has never been accused of being a particularly handsome sidearm, but it has a sort of ugly-duckling charm.
