Ayup Calvin...
The most accurate SD-Cap by far, and the one which is recommended... is WPG.

His sd caps are EXELLENT in every aspect.
The only downfall is the chinstrap which is easily fixed.
Also, they are very durable. I've drop-kicked mine on accident and it still kept it's shape. Worth every penny like the RSM said.

Ah yes... the chinstrap! We did discuss this in a previous thread.. last year I think it was. The WPG chinstrap from the 'SD Cap'.. is the only issue that I have with this vendor. However, it can be rectified.
'Dickie Knights' : Khaki on Campaign, based in Blighty, is the best vendor to get your replacement SD-Chinstrap from. His item are all copied from original period items from his own collection.

Just so Commonwealth chaps know - I recently bought several chin straps from Dickie Knights / Khaki on Campaign.
Because I received a bulk order discount they are available to GWHS members at $10 - in person. If you wanted it shipped somewhere, shipping would be extra.

I'm going to say - it somewhat depends.
Best to review period photos - I'll see if I can get some posted.

Calvin.. as John has already mentioned, the positioning of the Regimental Cap Badge upon the SD-Cap.. all depends upon which Battalion of a particular Regiment the soldier belonged to. Each cap badge is placed in basically the same location upon the front, but the final positioning all hangs upon the design of the Regimental badge.
What Battalion (unit) to which Regiment were you looking to use your SD-Cap for?!?

I've seen IG badges and I've seen IG badges labeled as "large".
For the "typical - smaller? size badge...
As the badge is read I'm going to use N/S to describe the vertical long points on the star and E/W to describe the horizontal long points on the star.
Most period photos show - N/S star points centered vertically on the hat and - either the E/W star points resting on what I'll call the hat band OR the shorter star points - below the longer E/W star points - resting on the hat band.
I'll try to do some sort of photo or sketch later this evening to better show what I mean.
