How accurate/correct is Schipper's M2 Gas mask can? They have the cans, but no covers.
I figure Nice Collection's Covers are better anyways, so my question is: if I get Schipper's can and Nice's cover, will they groove and jive?

I had a Schippefabrik can I let a person borrow and it did not even make it through one reenactment without the can cover snapping at the weld joints where the string went through ... you get what you pay for ... enough said. I have no clue if they will jive at all, I know the can cover NiceCollection make will fit an original one Patrick

Nope ... the person just fell on the ground on top of it and it broke. I have fallen on my original and it held up, a little dent and that was all. The original are way thicker and made of better material than his, his is some sort of cheap sheet metal made in India. His stuff is all made in India by Sanah International although I highly doubt you'll ever hear that from them.

Just once I wish these clowns would actually pay someone who actually knows English to do their websites... So this is Schipper's Indian connection? Oh boy....

You want QUALITY, you will pay for it, you want JUNK, you will pay less for it. You seen the quality of what NiceCollection is selling, it is top notch, little expensive but worth the money you paid for it.

I am very impressed with Nice Collection, absolutely. Fortunately I can pay a little more these days for better stuff, sometimes. But they don't sell everything, and I can't get it all at once. I ordered the Nice Collection cover and hopefully it will hide/protect a crappy Schipper gaz mask can until something better comes along.
Seems to me like one pays more for junk, in the end. In my experience with reenactment, it seems to me that a lot of time, effort, and money can go into doing things absolutely wrong.

Did you ask if he would repair or replace it? Or is it possible you would rather bitch than rectify. I have replaced or repaired things with my name on them years later maybe you should try that first.

Well if it's made from lighter material than the original, then no amount of repair or replacement will ever be enough.

I am going to be quite frank ... I do not like his French products plain and simple. I will never be a fan of his or his stuff like some others are, that is fine with me if they are but I do not like them. I heard of nightmares from members on this forum and other groups as well on his stuff as well, some get taken care of, others do not. I would rather pay double the money for an item I know that is not a cheap copy and will last for years and be much more correct for the impression than a cheap piece of garbage or simply wrong pattern uniform item which is my perogative.

Thats your opinion and you have every right to it my point is that at one time you bought the item you loaned it out and it was broken, but did you try to get it repaired or replaced. If you did not then who's fault is that.

Patrick:
I have two Schipper-made German uniforms and subsequent gear that are exceedingly accurate to originals. I have seen numerous other Schipper-made uniforms, US, Marines, AH, French, etc. A collector friend of mine set original US uniforms and web gear side by side with Schipper's repros and it was the same. No repro is perfect and originals are not all the same, either.
Can you constructively point out meaningful inaccuracies in Schipper's French items that are not observed in the range of differences seen in originals? Some facts would be helpful both to uniform makers and potential buyers.

I would also like to know why the Schipper repro's "suck" . Going into some detail as to why they "suck" might help out a bit.
Also, are there any alternatives to Schipper made French uniforms?
